Why is there a delay in displaying single scored points when two point scoring is enabled?

When two point scoring is enabled, judges can click a hand control button once for one point or double-click a hand control button for two points. When a judge presses the button once, the system does not immediately register the button press for a single point but instead, it waits for 1/2 second to see if the judge presses the button again.

If the judge does not press the button again within 1/2 second then the system registers this as a single point vote. If the judge does press the button again within 1/2 second then the system registers this as a two point vote.

The 1/2 second double-click window is the reason for the delay in scoring a point.

For example:

With 3 judges active and two-point scoring enabled, if judges 1 and 2 both press their red hand control button at the same time the system must wait an additional 1/2 second before scoring a point.

If neither judge presses their hand control button again during this time then 1 point will score for the red competitor. If both judges press the button again during this time then 2 points will score for the red competitor.

If one judge presses the button again, but the other does not, and judge 3 does not press their red button at all, then no points will score because their was no majority for 1 or 2 points.

Please see the Two Point Scoring Breakdown Charts in the User Manual for further clarification of the number of judges required to score 1 or 2 points.
